The Annual Health Insurance Summit

26th & 27thJuly 2011 | Sydney Harbour Marriott

Australia is faced with the inevitable: A rapid rise of an ageing population and chronic diseases, an increase in private health insurance premiums due to increased utilisation and costs of treatments and services, particularly due to technology and higher provider and contracting costs. Additionally, a rise in health claims, along with an upsurge in insurance claims leakages and fraud along with combating a tough economic environment to finance the health fund, add fuel to the fire.

Australians have been fortunate so far to have access to a healthcare system that covers us in time of need for the most part.  However, the public health sector is becoming harder to sustain and the private health sector is feeling the pinch. We need to examine....

  • What the future of health insurance in Australia will look like?
  • Will the public and private healthcare sectors be able to co-exist whilst achieving sustainability? &  If so, how will they remain competitive in todays market?

The 10th Annual Health Insurance Summit will tackle these key questions and many more. This event will focus on the current political and economic challenges after COAG 2011 and the May 2011 budget, plus; future trends of health insurance in Australia and how medical innovation and technology will shift the way the current healthcare industry operates. Affordability concerns of private health insurance in a world of rising costs and how integrating information across the healthcare continuum will directly impact health insurance. The need to improve hospital and health services through the private sector to increase quality outcomes and alleviate pressure, off an over burdened current healthcare system.

The Health Insurance Summit attracts senior level healthcare delegations from the nations public and private Sectors each year and is now Australias most established Health Insurance industry gathering.
